To kick off the new academic year, there will be an LGBT Faculty Welcome reception Aug. 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the LGBT Center at Thwing Center. Lynn Singer, deputy provost and vice president of academic affairs, will present opening remarks.
Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Significant others and LGBT allies are welcome.

Hi Deborah! Great question. An ally would be someone who doesn’t identify as part of the LGBT community but is supportive and mindfully inclusive of LGBT people and communities.
